THE SIXPOUNDER Signs With Universal
Taking Part in the BLITZKRIEG VI TOUR
Poland’s The Sixpounder definitely knows how to make the most out of an opportunity. Lead singer Filip Salapa was on their national television talent show The Voice of Poland and reached the semi-finals. The prize was the chance to be trained by Nergal, lead vocalist of the blackened death metal band Behemoth. The band also won the Wacken Metal Battle and was awarded the opportunity to play at the prestigious 2010 Wacken Open Air Festival. This was their first time playing for an international audience.
Through all their hard work and constant touring, the band caught the eye of Universal Music and signed a deal with them. The first item on the label’s “to do” list is to re-release the band’s debut album Going to Hell? Permission Granted in February. Their debut contains 12 tracks of alternative groove metal and they also tackle the Slayer favorite “Bloodline”. The band describes their sound as a “combo of rock and roll ghost with metal specter”. Such influences as Pantera, In Flames and Lamb of God can be heard throughout their style.
The band has been asked to take part in the Blitzkrieg VI Tour in March. That tour will be headlined by VADER and will receive support from Resistance, Calm Hatchery and Eris Is My Homegirl.
